Bir Chilagang Basumatary recalled celebrating its 25th anniversary in the Kokrajhar district.

KOKRAJHAR: The 25th anniversary of Bir Chilagang Basumatary, founder and chairman of the Bodo Liberation Tigers (now dissolved), was observed on Tuesday at his burial ground, Bir Chilagang Puri, in Bongshigaon, near Dotma in the Kokrajhar district. Bir Chilagang Basumatary, BLT’s founder and chairman, has rebelled with weapons for another Bodoland Territorial. He died on June 28, 1997, after a long-term illness. Basumatary is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter.

Anniversary was organized by the Bill Chiragan Basmatary Trust in collaboration with local citizens to recall the contribution and dedication of the late Bill Chiragan Basmatary towards the welfare and development of the Boro community. ..

Regardless of the organization, the party and locals rushed to the grave on this occasion to pay tribute to the flowers at the late Basmatary cemetery in Bonsigaon. At that time, BTR CEM Pramod Boro unveiled a new statue of Bir Chilagang Basumatary at his burial ground. The widow of the late Basmatary, Ramani Basmatary, sent a tribute to the tombs for abundant flowers, followed by leaders of various organizations across the community.
