Assam’s Tapank Mardeca has been appointed as the new IB Chief

Deka was originally from the Barpeta district of southern Assam, but grew up in Tezpur.

He has been in charge of the IB Operations Wing.

According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, he will become the new director of the IB, and his term will last for two years.

In particular, Deca was a 1988 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh and the first police officer from the northeast to be appointed Director of the Information Agency (IB).

The 58-year-old Deka is currently the Special Director of the IB and is also responsible for counterterrorism activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Deka works primarily with the Indian Intelligence Agency and is known to be an aide to NSAAjit Doval.
