Assam: Rogues attack Cochrajar businessmen, loot Rs. 20,000

A businessman named Bikash Jain was looted by a robber who threatened him with a weapon.

Reportedly, a group of robbers came to a businessman’s shop to buy things at 8 pm on Friday.

According to the businessman, the robber introduced himself as an executive of the Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) and demanded money from him. When the businessman rejected the request, the robber hit his head with the butt of a pistol.

The robber destroyed his store and robbed Rs. 20,000. The robber also attacked a businessman’s colleague, Krishnaberman.

The Kokrajhar police station is currently investigating the issue. Five people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident, police said.

“Police authorities have stepped up strict measures against incidents reported from various locations and have strong security throughout the district,” said a senior police officer in Kokrajar.
