Assam Prime Minister sends ULFA (I) notice of apology to MLA: Report

Assam’s Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Salma has shown to his cabinet colleague Sanjoy Kishan about an apology for the banned ULFA (I) issued shortly after calling the dress chief a “liar.” I issued a cause notification. Mr Salma notified Qishan on Saturday, official sources said on Sunday that he did not want to be named.

“Qishan was given three days to respond to the notice. The Prime Minister asked Kishan to explain why he apologized to ULFA (I),” he told PTI.

Kishan, who represents Tinsukia in the state legislature, called ULFA (I) chief Paresh Barua a “liar” on May 13, according to sources.

The outfit issued a statement the next day requesting the Tea Tribe and the Minister of Employment to apologize for his remarks, ensuring his “boycott” in the state’s Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts if he did not do so within 24 hours.
