Assam police detain 26 Rohingya in Silchar

All 26 people are reportedly residents of Myanmar and have traveled all the way from Jammu to Silchar.

“The Rohingya arrived at Guwahati’s Kamakia station on Saturday night and headed for Silchar on the road. They were from Jammu. A total of 12 children. They are currently being questioned and we have a problem. We are investigating, “ANI quoted Raman Deep. Kaul, the police chief (SP) in the Kacha district, said.

She also said further investigation was underway.

According to the SP, there are three families with Silchar’s contacts that police are trying to identify.

“Silchar has someone in contact with them. We’re trying to track them down,” SP added.
