Assam logged highest variety of sedition instances in final 8 years: NCRB

GUWAHATI: Assam, over the last eight years, logged the best variety of sedition instances within the nation.

14.52 per cent of the sedition instances logged within the nation within the final eight years have been from Assam.

A complete of 475 sedition instances have been registered in India since 2014, out of which 69 instances have been reported from Assam.

In response to a report by The Indian Categorical, one in each six instances reported have been from Assam.

The info was launched by the Nationwide Crime Information Bureau (NCRB) in its Crime in India 2021 report.

In India, sedition instances are registered beneath Part 124A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Assam was adopted by Haryana with 42 instances within the final eight years.

Jharkhand and Karnataka logged 40 and 38 instances respectively.

Delhi had the best variety of such instances registered among the many UTs at 13, in 2014.

Among the many different Northeast states, Meghalaya and Mizoram have been among the many states in India to not have registered even a single sedition case.
