Assam | Jharkhand MLAs money restoration case: Guwahati businessman’s assertion recorded

KOLKATA: The prison investigation division (CID) of West Bengal police has recorded the assertion of a businessman primarily based in Guwahati, Assam within the Jharkhand MLAs money restoration case.

The Guwahati-based businessman recorded his assertion on Saturday after summons issued by the West Bengal CID in reference to the case.

Ashok Dhanuka – the Guwahati-based businessman – is reportedly recognized to have shut hyperlinks with many prime politicians from Assam.

Earlier, the CID of West Bengal police had alleged that Ashok Dhanuka was being shielded by the Assam police, attributable to which the CID officers couldn’t communicate to him on a number of events in Guwahati.

The Guwahati-based businessman is suspected of supplying the cash seized from three Jharkhand MLAs, who have been arrested on July 31.

Three Jharkhand MLAs – Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap and Naman Bixal Kongari – have been arrested by the West Bengal police on July 31 in Howrah.

Almost Rs 50 lakh in money was recovered and later seized from the SUV the three Jharkhand MLAs have been travelling in.

The West Bengal CID took over the investigation into the case from the Howrah police.
