Assam has registered 1,100 cattle smuggling cases in the past year

According to data, police arrested 992 smugglers, rescued more than 9,454 cattle and seized 417 vehicles.

Apart from these, Assam police also claimed to withdraw criminal cases in the last 11 months.

“Assam’s cases were pending from 1,09,081 as of the end of May 2021 to 83,947 as of the end of April,” the Assam police said in a statement.

The average crime rate per 100,000 population was 384 last year, but this year it has dropped to 222, and the average monthly crime rate has dropped from about 11,103 last year to 6,247 this year.

“The disposition of the case in the first quarter of 2022 is 28,400 compared to 24,159 in the first quarter of 2021,” the statement added.

Regarding drug trafficking, police registered 2,834 cases under the NDPS Act, arrested more than 4,838 drug traffickers, and seized more than Rs 548.53 of drugs since May last year.
