Assam: Guwahati court summons Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia in defamation case

GUWAHATI: Manish Sisodia (Delhi deputy chief minister) has been summoned at Guwahati in Assam.

Court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Kamrup at Guwahati. Assam has requested Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia, to appear in front of it on September 29,

A defamation case has led to the request for Delhi’s deputy CM to be present before Kamrup, CJM at Guwahati in Assam.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam chief minister filed the defamation complaint against Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

The Assam CM had filed the criminal defamation case against Manish Sisodia over allegations that he levelled linking Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma in an alleged corruption case.

In addition, wife of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma – Riniki Bhuyan Sarma had filed a Rs 100 crore defamation case against Sisodia at a court in Assam.

Himanta Biswa Saarma served as the Assam health minister during COVID-19’s peak in 2020.

On June 4, Sisodia had said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma awarded the contract to his wife’s company. The PPE kit cost him Rs 990, while the other kits were bought at Rs 600 each from an alternate company the day before. This is a huge crime.”

Sisodia claimed that he was able to show the documentation. Sarma and Sisodia have denied each other all allegations.
