Assam: Guwahati city to be extended till Jagiroad in east & Palashbari on west

Assam: Guwahati to be expanded until Jagiroad (east) & Palashbari (west).

GUWAHATI: Soon, Guwahati will be extended.

Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam chief minister) announced this on Thursday.

The Guwahati City will extend to Jagiroad, while it will stretch westwards up to Palashbari.

The Assam chief minister also announced that both Jagiroad & Palashbari would be linked to 8-lane highways starting from Guwahati.

“We will also build an 8-lane super highway between Guwahati and Jagiroad,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Guwahati (the largest Assam city) is also the most populous metropolis of Northeast India.

Dispur is the capital city of Assam and it’s located in Guwahati, within the Circuit City Region.

Guwahati can be found between the Brahmaputra River’s banks and the Shillong Plateau foothills. The LGB International Airport is to the west, and Narengi to to the east.

Slowly, the North Guwahati region, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra is being incorporated into city limits.

Guwahati is also referred to as “Gateway to North East India”.
