Assam Flood: Landslides reported in Silchar

Silchar: The Barak Valley was once again separated from the rest of the country after a landslide was reported near Sonapur on the Baderpur Joyai National Highway on Wednesday morning. There were also reports of further landslides in the Ratachera region of Assam, Meghalaya. Police in East Jansha Hill have called on commuters to refrain from traveling until the situation is normal.

On Wednesday, Barak Valley saw heavy showers all day long. Various parts of the town of Sirchar were flooded. The water level of the Barak River was rising at an astonishing rate of 25 cm per hour at noon. A few weeks ago, South Assam experienced the worst flood conditions in the last 20 years.
