Assam flood kills 9 people, hits over 70,000 rupees in 29 districts: 10 points

Assam Flood: Deaths reach 30 and affected people over Rs 561,000

According to official bulletins, the flood situation in Assam continues to be severe on Thursday, killing two people, including children, and leaving more than Rs 561,000 in five districts still suffering from floods.

According to daily flood reports from the Assam Department of Disaster Management (ASDMA), one person was killed each in Kanpur and Raha in the Nagaon district. As a result, the total number of people who died in this year’s floods and landslides has reached 30.

According to ASDMA, more than 5,61,100 people were flooded in the Cachar, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Morigaon and Nagaon districts.

Nagaon is the worst blow suffering for more than Rs 368,000, followed by Kacha for nearly Rs 15,000 and Morigaon for more than 41,000.

Until Tuesday, floods across nine districts of the state affected more than Rs 575,000.

The Inter-Ministry Central Team (IMCT) arrived in Guwahati on Thursday to talk with the Revenue Disaster Management Department and ASDMA staff to assess the damage caused by the state’s floods and landslides.
