Assam Flood: Deaths Increase to Districts 14, 29

Deaths occurred on Friday in the Cachar (2), Lakhimpur (1) and Nagaon (1) districts. As a result, the death toll reached 14, nine died in floods and five died in landslides.

Nearly Rs 712,000 people were still affected in 29 districts, according to the Assam Department of Disaster Management. Authorities set up 234 relief camps, evacuating 74,705 impoverished people, including 168 pregnant women and lactating mothers.

The Kopiri River was still flowing above dangerous levels.

Army, National Disaster Response Units, National Disaster Response Units and police personnel were engaged in rescue and rescue operations. The death toll from the Assam flood will increase to 14.

As many as 86,772 people have been evacuated to 343 relief camps and 411 relief supplies distribution centers are in operation.

According to ASDMA Bulletin, 21,884 stranded people were evacuated with the help of NDRF, SDRF, and volunteers.
