Assam: Drug Inspector Apprehended on Bribery Expenses in Jorhat

The accused, recognized as Jahnabi Kalita, was trapped and caught red-handed whereas accepting bribe cash.

In accordance with the anti-corruption wing, Kalita had demanded cash for issuing a licence to the complainant for beginning a pharmacy.

Taking to Twitter, ADGP (Regulation & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Smt Jahnabi Kalita, Inspector of Medicine Jorhat has been trapped and arrested purple handed as we speak by group of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM whereas accepting demanded cash for issuing a Licence to the complainant for beginning a Pharmacy.”

Earlier this month, a group of officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption arrested the assistant Block Growth Officer (BDO) cum Secretary of the Dhula Gaon Panchayat in Darrang district of Assam on the cost of accepting bribe.

The accused assistant BDO has been recognized as Sujit Thakuria. He had demanded cash for passing a invoice.

He was trapped and arrested purple handed by the officers of the anti corruption cell whereas accepting demanded cash for passing a operating invoice in reference to contractual work.
