Assam: Coclajar enthusiastically celebrates district day
Kokrajhar was part of the undivided Goalpara district. In 1957, under the control of Bimala Prasad Chaliha as Prime Minister of Assam, three subdivisions were created, one of which was Kokrajhar. This subdivision, which stretches from Manas in the east to Sankosh in the west, became a district on July 1, 1983.
District Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the district. Patriotic songs were performed throughout the district through FLS in the morning. On this day, the district administration held various conventions.
District Day was ceremonially celebrated in the evening in the auditorium of Commerce College. Program by Chief Guest Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Prominent Guests Lawrence Islary, MLA, 30- Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC, MLA 28- Gossaigaon LAC Jiron Basumatary, MLA 31- Sidli (ST) LAC Jayanta Basumatary I decorated it.
The winner of the contest was awarded a prize and a certificate in the evening. In addition to the winners, the 1971 War Martyrs, HSLC and HS Exam District Toppers were also blessed. There was a public debate where various anecdotes of the district were shared by guests and the general public.
