All Assam Gorkha Students' Union felicitates meritorious students at Sootea

The All Assam Gorkha Student’s Union recognizes meritorious Sootea students

JAMUGURIHAT – A total 60 students with merit who have passed the HSLC or HS exams were honored at a public meeting held by AAGSU’s Sootea region committee (All Assam Gokha Students Union).

Ajay Karaki, the President of the Regional Committee, presided over the event at SiporiyaHSSchool in Sootea.

An inspirational song began the felicitation program. Each student who was deemed meritorious received a citation and gamosa along with a pack of books. In the programme, two journalists from Sootea – Hemanta Saikia and Uttam Nath – along with Yuvraj Baskota, Prakash Khanal and Sanjay Pandey were felicitated for their outstanding contribution towards society and social life at large.

Lalit Subba (retired teacher), Dilip Gajurel (vice president of AAGSU’s central committee), Hemanta Saikia (journalist), Anjan Baskota (Sahitya Akademi-awardee writer), Kamal Upadhyaya (teacher), Prakash Khanal (secretary of Biswanath AAGSU) and Ishwar Timsina (“social worker”) addressed the public meeting. Nomal Bhattarai and Dr Manoj Chetry attended the meeting, as well as Ajit Dhakal, Pranab Baskota, Pranab Bakkota, Siba Thaapa, Ganesh Chetry and Pranab Chetry. Damodar Subedi, Prakash Khanal conducted all the proceedings.
