19 Rajya Sabha MPs Suspended Day After Action Against 4 Lok Sabha MPs
For disrupting today’s session, nineteen opposition MPs were suspended by Rajya Sabha throughout the week.
The decision to remove Rajya Sabha’s opposition MPs was made with heavy hearts. Piyush Ghayal, BJP’s leader said that they continued to ignore the appeals of Chairman Nirmala Sitharaman. The leader of Rajya Sabha’s Rajya Sabha House, Mr Goyal stated that “The government is open to a discussion on the price rise once Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has recovered”
This latest suspension follows four Congress MPs from Lok Sabha being dealt with the same action during the monsoon session. They were punished for holding placards within the house, despite Speaker Om Birla’s warnings to the contrary.
Today’s protestors continued their demonstration and the suspension MPs for opposition did not leave. The House was delayed an hour.
The opposition would be furious at the government for allegedly trying to silence voices criticizing the economic or social policies of the ruling coalition, and this action against 19 Rajya Sabha MPs will likely intensify their anger.
